PtX-Lab-Challenge is a technology-promoting service-learning project related to SDG 7. Contributing to
SDG-Campus, it is conjointly supported by
PtX Lab Lausitz and operates under the service-learning module
praxiSDG in methodological and organizational terms. You are committing yourselves to sustainability efforts of
PtX Lab Lausitz,
learning to act as change agents across your study contexts, leaving
meaningful handprints, designing your individual projects in a
collaborative way, and reflecting your experiences.
PtX-Lab-Challenge 2026 addresses the cutting-edge question of
Open Strategic Autonomy and Climate Neutrality?Fossil fuels create political vulnerabilities and dependencies. Renewable energy and fuels (including geen hydrogen and PtX-fuels)
can help to break free from fossil dependencies. They can secure the
access to energy also in times of war and crisis. When designing a new
energy system, however, resilience should be a key concern. This has also been operationalized by the EU in its concept of
open strategic autonomy (OSA).
PtX Lab Lausitz
is eager to host participants with a strong bias in technology and
policy, preferably basic knowledge in (visual) communication of research
results to meaningfully support strands of:
- Research on the relevant aspects of resilient PtX-production
We
already have results regarding European dependencies in the area of PtX
(patents, research as well as ressources) and conducted first research
projects in the field of resiliecence and PtX (design of a resilient PtX
factory, military and state usages of PtX). The next step, however, is
crucial for a think tank and policy work: disseminate results via: - Visualization of a OSA Policy monitor
We
would like you to build on our current results and continue the
research where needed. The main outcome would be the visualization of
our results as an 'OSA policy monitor'. This could be a web-based or
analog product. The aim is to graphically show in which field (of PtX)
the EU is strategically dependent on external actors and how changes in
these independencies could differ in influencing the goal of OSA. The
monitor is intended to translate the research results to policy makers
as well as researches as a simple to to show how PtX can contribute to a
resilient and sustainable Europe.
Your additional asset, depending on the outcome, your insights might be published as product under the license of PtX Lab Lausitz.
The team of PtX Lab Lausitz welcomes you with an intriguing on-campus programme. Purposefully customized around the individual needs of two teams of four participants maximum each, you'll be kicking off your PtX-Lab-Challenge 2026 week at TU Dresden on 28 September 2026. While getting to know your fellow participants, you are going to learn about the service-learning approach, the structure of PtX-Lab-Challenge 2026 and all information relevant to accomplish your challenge successfully. Conjointly with PtX Lab Lausitz we are going to design your individual project approach according to your individual needs and expertise. Starting from 29 September 2026 you'll be volunteering with PtX Lab Lausitz in Cottbus, concluding your week with a debriefing and follow-up session on 2 October 2026.
