After successfully completing this course, you will be able to:

• explain the importance of the oceans for politics, the economy, and international security;
• place Indonesia's role as a maritime nation in a global context;
• understand international rules and legal frameworks governing the use of marine spaces;
• analyse the causes and consequences of marine environmental problems and the overexploitation of resources;
• compare different approaches to the protection of marine ecosystems and coastal regions;
• critically evaluate measures to combat illegal activities at sea;
• discuss sustainable development strategies for maritime economies;
• examine financing and cooperation models in climate and ocean protection;
• apply practical examples from Indonesia to broader global challenges in ocean governance.

As with your other university courses, you will need to dedicate some time to this course. However, the amount of time required may vary depending on your prior knowledge, learning pace, curiosity, and willingness to explore additional resources and conduct further research.

You will successfully complete this course if you finish all activities and achieve at least 50% of the required tasks. Upon successful completion, the course will be recorded as an extra achievement in your Transcript of Records.

This course does not award ECTS credits. Instead, it is designed as an additional learning opportunity to broaden and deepen your knowledge of current topics in sustainable development, allowing you to expand your expertise beyond the regular curriculum.
