Kursbeschreibung

“Green” hydrogen enables the storage and flexible transportation of wind and solar energy and therefore plays a key role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This course provides in-depth knowledge of the production, storage, transportation and use of hydrogen and selected derivatives. You are given an overview of hydrogen as an energy carrier and you will learn about key aspects of hydrogen production. The main teaching material consists of short video recordings of expert presentations on various components of the hydrogen supply chain. . Through various activities, you will have the opportunity to reflect on and deepen your new knowledge.

Das wirst Du lernen

  • You can explain the role of “green” hydrogen in greenhouse gas-neutral energy systems.
  • You can describe the most important hydrogen supply technologies and their functional principle.
  • You can explain the interfaces and interactions between the technology components of hydrogen supply chains.
  • You can compare different technical options for the import of (hydrogen-based) energy sources based on their advantages and disadvantages.
  • You can outline and qualitatively compare suitable energy supply options based on “green” hydrogen for various applications (e.g. in transportation or industry).

Damit wirst Du Dich beschäftigen

  • What characterizes green hydrogen and why is it so important for the energy transition?
  • What are processes to produce hydrogen? Which solutions are most promising for a climate-neutral energy supply in the future and how do they work?
  • Why is it so important to store and transport hydrogen? What makes this such a challenge? What are the different options for storing and transporting it?
  • What are the pros and cons of different options for the storage and transport of gaseous hydrogen?
  • How can hydrogen be liquefied? What are the advantages of doing so for storage and transportation?
  • What are the advantages of ammonia as a hydrogen carrier, and how can hydrogen be converted into ammonia?
  • Why is there no way around the use of hydrogen when it comes to cutting greenhouse gas emissions from industry? Which areas of application are most important?
